Pay per click (also known as PPC) is used on advertising networks, content websites, and also search engines.  It is a model used as part of internet advertising, whereby advertisers only pay when someone clicks on the advertisement that leads to the advertisers’ website.  In search engines, advertisers usually bid on specific keywords.  These keywords should be relevant to their target markets.  The advertiser’s advertisement (the PPC) is displayed each time someone types in a keyword that matches that of the advertiser.  The PPCs is commonly known as sponsored ads or sponsored links.  It normally appears above or adjacent to the organic (natural) results on search engine results pages.
