One of the essentials to consider in playing tennis is the grip. It is the very tip of the racquet, from the frame, which is primarily used to hold.
Finding the exact size of a tennis grip is very important because it is either you might strain your hand if it is too big or you might damage your wrist if it is too small. Any injury can be avoided by holding out the hand in which you hold the racquet with the palm facing up and the fingers out straight. With a tape measure, quantify the distance from the middle crease of your palm to the top of your ring finger (the one next to your little finger). This distance should be the same as the distance around the handle of the grip you choose. Youngsters will measure less than four inches, average women between 4 1/8″ and 4 3/8″, while the men are between 4 1/2″ and 4 3/4″.
If the grip material wears smooth or begins to come away from the handle, make sure you get it replaced as this can be dangerous. In general, you should replace your grip throughout the year as frequently as you play tennis each week. The recommended replacement grip is listed on the inside throat area of your racket. There are two kinds of tennis grips for replacement namely “firm” and “cushioned”. Firm is high- density, leather, calfskin or cowhide. It is the number one choice of players who want to feel the ball collide with the racquet. In the otherhand, cushioned is usually made of a spongy foam that provides relief for your hand, but it makes it tougher to feel where the ball lands on the racquet face.
When the grip becomes hard due to the pores that have been clogged up by the dirt of your sweat, the solution is to automatically utilize an overgrip. Overgrips are “temporary” grips, and it is not recommended that you attempt to actually replace a racquet’s existing grip. When overgrips are gluey, they should be replaced every five times of playing or sooner. If not changed immediately, it gets gooey and does not give an advantage in playing the sport. However, there are artificial tennis grips available which are much easier to clasp than those crafted out of leather.
Overgrips can be fitted to provide more “feel”, it refers to the adhesive qualities of the tennis grip that comes in three types. “Soft” is the option for lesser friction and is the least likely to cause blisters. The problem is that you gain more switch because you have to squeeze the tennis grip harder to keep it from twisting on off-center hits. “Tacky” is much prone to get blisters but it has a huge advantage from soft in terms of slip prevention. “Dry” has some kind of flypaper texture which make the tennis grip a lot more simpler. The downside to this is that the stickiness may be a stumbling block in changing the handle swiftly.
In this kind of ball tournament, the tennis grip can most likely increase your power because it is where you exhaust the weight of your body when hitting the ball to your opponent’s court.
