Grubs and beetles go hand in hand. Food source is very important for survival. If you have a lot of ornamental plants, you have probably seen Japanese Beetles hanging around. If you see adults, there’s a good chance they are going to be laying eggs and producing. Water source is also important. Since July is usually a very dry month. watering can attract these pests inviting them to move in.
To determine if your yard is being infested with grubs, do this simple test. Take a sample of earth with a shovel cutting three side 12 inches long. Lift up the patch and count the number of grubs found in this sample. When you are done, place the earth back down and water a little so it will grow.
In the square foot area, if you find zero to five grubs, all is well. Grubs are a natural occurrence and are needed in small quantities. If you find more than five but less than ten, you have a small over population problem that needs to be tended to. More than ten is a serious infestation problem which will leave you with a dead yard if not taken care of.

Outdoor Bench
... for dinner I looked out the front patio doors and saw a young couple sitting on the outdoor bench in our front yard. They did not look familiar to me, but I walked outside to see who they were. Landscaping Supplies
... we needed to do the project. Our next door neighbor saw us drive into the yard with our landscaping supplies. He came over and offered to help with the project. As we were working another neighbor came over to see what we were doing with the landscaping supplies. He also began helping with the project. With the additional help the landscaping supplies were soon unloaded from the trailer and the work on the project began. I started removing the plastic edging that had been in place.
