Fun Paper Mache Projects

Children love to do crafts of all types. When we grow, we often look for things that have a more polished look, and hobbies that may not involve a lot of imagination. Children, on the other hand, like to make something out of nothing, and they are proud of the results not matter what it might look like. Besides the traditional crayons and markers, there are many other great crafts that might be a bit messier, but a whole lot of fun. Paper mache is one of those crafts. This will be something they will never forget.
Paper mache is very simple. You can use any type of paper that you want, but newspaper works just fine. If you are going to use paper other than newspaper, remember that the paper should be on the thinner side.

We also bought paper plates and cups that had oriental floral designs on them. For food I ordered takeout from our favorite Chinese restaurant. I took one of the paper plates to the bakery to see if they could duplicate the design onto the birthday cake. The decorator said she would be able to do this. On the morning of the party we strung the lanterns along with some balloons. We set up several...

Lap Quilts
... so we could get together at each other homes and bring our lap quilts along. I had several pieces of fabric from past quilting projects, so I decided to make a crazy quilt pattern for the tops of the first two lap quilts.
