Join me as I take a trip to the best site snorkeling at the best in snorkeling world
Depending on your level as a swimmer or diver, finding the best in the snorkeling world could be subjective. Still no one could outplace the perfect ecosystem and vibrant sea life. Whether your are a surface skimmer or a strong snorkeling swimmer who more often than not would take a deep dive to the sea bed and check the interesting creatures that mostly stay in the bottom.
I am an average swimmer who does surface skimming too, after all that is actual snorkeling but I always take some time underneath the waves just to see close up those fascinating sights like a peeking lobster from its den, or a handful of seahorses that goes swirling around a sea fern. These charms make up the destinations I consider the best site snorkeling and the best in snorkeling world.
The Molokini Crater Natural Preserve
Maui, Hawaii
One of the best site snorkeling, especially for starter snorkelers, Molokini is an extinct volcano half submerged by the sea, the crater is home to hundred of diverse marine life, even endangered ones. Such is the ecosystem that the government placed strict sanctions to protect this underwater habitat from vandals -even casual snorkelers. The Molokini Crater Natural Preserve is alive with schools of tame angelfish, touch-me-not puffer fish, butterfly fish, octopuses and even those giant fearful looking manta rays. Even with the flocking crowds of swimmers and strict sanctions, Molokini Crater lives the reputation as one of the best in snorkeling world.
Belize Barrier Reef
Belize
The second largest reef in the world, the Belize Barrier Reef is also one of the best in snorkeling world. The reef’s protection from the turbulent sea creates a clear and calm waters that made Belize Barrier Reef one of the best site snorkeling. Most of the area inside the reef is less than 20 feet deep, and with crystal clear water it makes an outstanding natural aquarium that you can take part of. In just 6-10 feet of water you’ll find an amazing diversity of marine life.
Olowalu Turtle Reef
Maui, Hawaii
Olowalu Turtle Reef in Maui is among the best in snorkeling world. Its sheltered waters overflow with a number of gentle and graceful green sea turtles making it the best site snorkeling and studying these over-poached creatures. Here you can see and be amazed at the peaceful and gentle ecology these wayward creatures have made for themselves. These turtles are protected by the law so it is advisable to observe them at some distance.
The Los Arcos and Tres Marietas
Banderas Bay, Mexico
Banderas Bay offers two best site snorkeling: the Los Arcos and the Tres Marietas. The Arches are basically three underwater rocks that form the small islands. They have a natural tunnel through their centers that has been etched by the tides to form perfect arches over the ocean. These rocks emerge from the ocean’s surface just off the small cove of Mismaloya. Thus Los Arcos is a perfect protection for the thousands of marine wildlife, its shelter an abundant ecosystem that aquatic and non aquatic harmoniously exist. On the other hand, Tres Marietas mark the entrance between Banderas Bay and the Pacific Ocean. These are a part of an underwater mountain range which peaks above the ocean’s surface about 20 miles of the coast of Puerto Vallarta. Because it is the nearest to the mouth of the pacific, expect to meet those aquatic creatures you always see on TV, such as but not limited to Manta rays, porpoise, whales and turtles. Banderas Bay because of its warm waters the whole year round attracts frequent marine visitors making it among the best in snorkeling world.
